Issue 1 of Cor came with a free gift of a fruit juice sachet and would be worth around 15 today.

Hi, I dont have much to tell you, only I collected all the issues of Cor! when I was a kid I kept them in the loft (attic) I had the whole lot bar one copy, then one day my Dad threw the whole lot out without telling me ( I still cant get over it).
Any how - Issue one came with the free sache of "Gulp" Two had a free "Bell boy" bubble gum sweet, and three had a free "Ratty rasper" - a peice of card with a rubber band and a metal hoop - you wound the the hoop on thr rubber band up then when you squeezed the the card board folder the metal hoop made a rasping sound as it spun around, Ratty rasper was one of the characters in Cor!! - Steven Cook

The last issue I have of Cor!! is 201 (they weren't numbered) and I think that was the last one. - Laurence Cunnington

Always remember Gus Gorilla from this one! - Doug Potter

There was at least one episode of The Goodies where Bill Oddie is seen reading Cor!! Rather appropriate as the Goodies appeared in comic strip form in Cor!! Cor!! was incorporated into Buster in 1974. The Cor!! annual continued to be published until sometime in the eighties. In fact Fleetway published several annuals for comics which were long out of print. (But why is Frankie Stein included on the characters page?) He appeared in Wham, Shiver and Shake, Whoopee and Monster Fun, but not Cor!!) - Clive Huggett

Cor! was responsible, I think, for the most vivid nightmare I've ever had. As a child, the story 'Rat Trap' (?), featuring the evil Doctor Rat (again- ?) was, if I remember correctly, one in which readers would write in and suggest ingenius traps to catch the master criminal rat. These inevitably failed, and in the final panel the good Doctor would blow a raspberry out of the page, with his thumbs in his ears.

One night I dreamt that a six foot humanoid rat came into my bedroom, dressed in scary black Victorian clothes, dragging his long, fat tail s-l-o-w-l-y behind him, turned to me, and blew a deep, booming rapberry. I was so petrified I couldn't move, and I remember the next day my father got completely the wrong end of the stick and became very angry with me for suggesting we had rats in the house.

26pigs is a marvellous site. Thanks you very, very much. - Steev Hopper

Great web site - and thanks to Steven Cook for his recollections. I was just about to start Grammar School in 1970 .I also won a competion of 2 magazines for a year (about the only thing I've ever won!!). I picked Cor! as one of them. I still have the first edition somewhere although the cover is ruined because the free orange drink leaked at some stage !

I loved the "Four alone on an abandoned island" - anyone know how the storyline developed?

I've just been reading another copy I found in the loft - dated 25 July 1970. Price 7d! Nice memories - and now they're being enjoyed by my own children.- Mike Crawford
