June issue 1 was published on 18th March 1961 by Fleetway Publications and went on to produce a further 659 issues before joining Tammy on 22nd June 1974. Also in 1965 it took over School Friend.

The first annual was the 1962 edition and we are unsure what year they stopped but it was at a time when IPC had taken over the title.

June merged with Tammy in 1974, bringing Bessie Bunter and the Storyteller into Tammy. These characters actually went through two merges: June & School Friend in 1968, Tammy & June in 1974. Other June regulars included "Vanessa from Venus," who could work magic with a twirl from her finger, "Lucky's Living Doll," with Lucky and her magic doll, Tina, and "Nursing is My Life."

You wanted to know how long they kept publishing June annuals. I have a June annual for 1982, so the June annuals definitely kept up for twenty years. - Briony
