We know Streamline was a Manchester comic and that the original artwork and storyline was by Dennis Gifford. After that we know very little.

Hurray! At last we've found someone who know's Streamline so we can stop making things up!

Just found your site and it's very interesting.
Did note one error when you mentioned STREAMLINE was a 1960s Underground comic. It wasn't. STREAMLINE goes back to 1947!
It was a complete comic book drawn by Denis (Gifford) over a weekend while he was in the RAF (AC1 Clerk/Pay Accounts)! There were four monthly issues.
The character "STREAMLINE" I used unofficially (but with Denis' approval) back in the 1980s and I was given official approval to use him in the 1990s and he appears every so often in BTCG ADVENTURE.

How you thought it was an Underground from the 1960s I don't know (cover illoe has "Denis Gifford '47 in bottom lh corner). Only assumption is that covers weren't dated so someone may have date marked it? Cardal Publishing Co. (Manchester) were definitely NOT into undergrounds and defuncted in...1953(?).

Okay, for you completists out there here are a few facts.

1)having checked around I can tell you that issues 1-4 (the title was monthly) will set you back 5.00 Sterling a piece if you can find them.

2)Denis Gifford only worked on issue 1;the "STREAMLINE" character was drawn in issues 2-4 by non-other than noted SF writer Bryan Berry! 3)Like other Golden & Silver Ages characters,"STREAMLINE" lives on in BTCG ADVENTURE and is not lost and forgotten in some dusty old comic limbo as his alter ego,Keenan King!

- Terry Hooper (Black Tower CG)

Dennis Gifford wrote more books on comics than anyone else. He devised the tv qui show for cartoonists Quick on the Draw which was hosted by his old school friend Bob Monkhouse, and later by Michael Bentine. Clive Huggett
