Sun comic was published in Cheshire and as far as we know did not make it big in the south of England.

"I see you have the Sun on your list i was pleased to see that it had a sister comic [at least i think it was] called Comet it use to have picture strips of movies in it one that springs to mind is Exile with Douglas Fairbanks also Typhoon with John Wayne..." - Melvyn Spencer

I still have my collection from the 1950's. Mostly Suns but a few Comets. Stories in the sun that I remember (without going into the loft to look for them) were Billy the Kid and Battler Britton. I recently saw the end of an old film on television about Billy the Kid, starring Robert Taylor, and the resemblance to the character in the comic was amazing. I think it must have been based on the film. - Tram Trax

Dear sir sun max bravo french nap 9th hussars.dick turpin.billy the kid and so on.comet buffalo bill wild bill hickock? brian shepherd - Brian Shepherd

Having a nostalgic look around your comics site, in the `Library', i saw your reproduction of the `Sun' with `Voyage to Venus', which i remember very well from age 8 - 9 : the little boy gets caught by a giant man-eating flower & has to cut his way out in a later episode.

i remember a couple of other sci-fi tales from `Sun' & `Comet': one was `Marooned on Mars', about a man kidnapped by the Martians who wanted to know if humans would make good slaves. all before the Eagle ... - Philip Webb

I recall Billy the Kid, very well. Real name, Will Bonney, of course. However, this Billy the Kid wore a mask (I loved masked characters) and his secret kit was kept the other side of a chasm, which he had to leap on the way to some derring do, with the cry, 'Yip, yip, yip, hi yo!' Days of happy innocence. - Gerald Thorburn

The strip I remember from the Sun is one drawn by Roy Davis, about Romans versus Ancient Britons.

I don't have any copies of the Sun, so could anyone confirm that this is the comic they were in? I would like to try to get some copies.

Maybe Summer 1949? - Don Cox
