Wow's claim to fame was that Rolf Harris, 'The King of Doodling' had an art section in the middle of the comic.

Didn't it merge with Whoopee, before its demise.- Craig Booty

If memory serves me correctly the free gift with the first issue of WOW was a little piece of card with the majority of a funny face drawn on it. There was a gap where the nose should be but there was a small chain in its place so you could move the card and the chain would form new shapes giving the face a new nose each time. - Simon O'Leary

It had a great football story about a team run by "Glenn Doddle" with loads of other players with similar but not quite the same names as real players. - Richard Taylor

If memory serves the first 4 issues came with the Kids Band Radio (title one of the strips ) dictionary . The comic started up during the CB radio craze and this strip was based on some kids having their own lingo and getting into scrapes etc. .. the only phprase that I can remember was Yak shack = Clubhouse . Another Strip was Boy Boss which was about the only strip to survive the merge with Whoppee. - Ian Griffiths

This was originally going to be a comic about school which kids could use as a forum for stuff they were interested in.

I have a mock - up called School Fun or School Daze somewhere. Needless to say, the finished comic bore no resemblance whatsoever to the original concept, and ended up being another Whoopee clone, with few memorable characters. (Apart from the brilliant Spare Part Kit (one of mine) and the excellent Boy Boss, which was written by Mark Rodgers!) - Graham Exton

Wow was one of a handful of comics I can remember being advertised on television. Adam and his Ants was actually a remake of Terry Bave's strip Andy and his Ants from Cor!! Only it was a different artist and the boy's name was changed to Adam after the pop group Adam and the Ants - Clive Huggett

I'm a school teacher in South Africa. While moving class I came across a stack of WoW magazines. Very interesting! And not in bad shape.
Really enjoyed paging through them. - Geraldene
